Ignitability of Jet A1 Oxygen Co-axial Diffusion Flames Diluted with Inert Gases

چکیده

In this study, the ignitability characteristics affected by an oxygen coaxial flow diluted with inert gases (nitrogen and helium) were experimentally investigated using Jet A1 diffusion flame configurations. As molar concentration of supplied to increased, dilution gas decreased, which drastically lowered measured minimum ignition energy. When only was without gas, most easily observed, thereby widening range. With a constant oxygen-inert co-flow rate, suppressibility under helium superior that nitrogen as decreased.

Ignition in 40 kW co-axial turbulent diffusion oxy-coal jet flames

This paper is directed towards understanding how composition of the coal transport medium (primary CO2 and O2) affects the observed ignition stand-off distance in 40 kW co-axial turbulent diffusion, oxy-coal flames, supported in a specially designed combustion test rig, rated at 100 kW. First, a methodology to define and quantify the observed ignition stand-off distance in laboratory combustor ...

Effects of oxygen enhancement and gravity on normal and inverse laminar jet diffusion flames

A fire on the Mir space station in 1997 threatened the spacecraft and its crew of six [1]. The fire involved an oxygen jet leaking from a lithium–perchlorate oxygen generator. The fire involved three factors not normally encountered in terrestrial fires: enhanced oxygen, inverse flames (in that the oxidizer is surrounded by fuel), and microgravity. The present work examines some effects of thes...

Vorticity Dynamics in Three-dimensional Pulsating Co-flowing Jet Diffusion Flames

The vorticity dynamics in the near field of laminar (Re = 10) co-flowing jets subjected to the single or combined effeets of axial and azimuthal forcing is analyzed. It is shown that the interaction of the three-dimensional vortex structure resulting from the growth of the two and three-dimensional instabilities may result in large changes in the entrainment and mixing characteristics of the je...

Laminar Smoke Points of Nonbuoyant Jet Diffusion Flames

The laminar smoke point properties of jet diffusion f lames-the luminous flame length, the residence time, and the fuel flow rate, at the onset of soot emission from the flames--have proven to be useful global measures of the soot properties of nonpremixed flames. These measures provide a means to rate several aspects of sooting properties: the relative tendency of various fuels to emit soot fr...
